Block

  1. A group of races between two breaks (such as a resurface, warmup, or lunch).

  2. A small rubber object placed on the ice during a race to indicate the interior of the current track

Division

  1. A group of skaters, more often referred to as a Racing Group in Speedskating.

Racing Group

  1. Skaters which are grouped together, usually by similar traits, such as ability, age, or gender.

Seed

  1. The process of assigning skaters to a group of races. Usually only used when referring to qualifying rounds in a progression - skaters in final rounds are “placed” in the final round.

Scratch

  1. To remove without permanently deleting.

Skaters On-The-Line

  1. The number of skaters participating in a race

Track

  1. A section of ice designated for skating through the use of blocks.
